Fernando Jose Torres Sanz who was born on 20 March 1984 is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a striker for La Liga club Atlético Madrid and Spain national team.

When he was 15 years old, Torres signed his first professional contract with Atlético Madrid. Torres finished his debut on 27 May 2001, against Leganés and scored the first goal for Atlético one week later. In 2002-03 season, Torres scored totally 13 goals. The young man appeared 35 times in league and scored 19 goals in next season making him the youngest team leader.
After playing for Atlético Madrid, Torres also played for Liverpool, Chelsea and AC Milan. On 27 December 2014, Atlético Madrid announced officially that Torres would be back to the club on loan until the end of the 2015–16 season. Torres debuted at Estadio Vicente Calderón on 4 January 2015. Nearly 45,000 football fans came there to support the legendary footballer which never happened in the history of the club.
He scored goals continuously. Due to his excellent performance, Torres was selected the best player of Atletico Madrid by fans in May 2015. He has scored 100 goals and appeared in 300 games for the club until now.
As an eminent goalscorer, Torres has got FIFA Confederations Cup Silver Shoe award in 2009, UEFA Euro Golden Boot award in 2012 and FIFA Confederations Cup Golden Shoe award in 2013.
